New A+ Grade Blackbutt ( Queensland Blonde ) timber deck installed in Kew. We will have more images to follow in the coming days of the other areas we are doing and the staining process. This type of deck offers a beautiful looking yet strong deck. Blackbutt is a blonde timber. It has similar hardness and durability characteristics to Merbau. Pull a rake (back-side down) across the boards of your deck if it's constructed of wood to see whether any nail heads are protruding out. You can either replace the screws with larger ones or hammer the screws back into the deck once you've found the protruding nails. In order to have a smoother surface, you might use a different material than wood. There are several decking systems that use clips to provide a seamless appearance, with no screws or holes to distract from the decking's smooth texture and comfortable feel.
